3Credit Hours This course is designed to introduce students to accounting for nonprofit organizations and state and local governmental (SLG) entities. Students will learn the basics of a nonprofit and SLG business model from a business process prospective and how that applies to financial and managerial accounting principles. Accounting systems and reporting practices used by nonprofit and SLG organizations are also examined. Service learning may also be used in this course and will provide students with an opportunity to work on accounting-related projects that will benefit nonprofit organizations.
